Apart from being flexible and hassle free, a Leisure Boating membership is also great value for money. A quick look at the table shows why a Leisure Boating membership is such great value for anyone who wants to go boating. For significantly less than the cost of owning the boat you get:
· Use of a luxury sports cruiser (like the one shown above) for up to 28 days per year
· A five star, walk on – walk off service so you enjoy all your time on the water
· The opportunity to use any boat in the fleet
· The opportunity to use boats at other Leisure Boating locations around Australia and Overseas!
· Training and support so you will be confident on the water
Here’s How it Works
Most people are too busy to go boating every week so, for most of the time, privately owned boats sit idle in a marina. The Leisure Boating system effectively allows boats to be shared between multiple people to eliminate the idle time and reduce the cost for each person.
As part of a professional, national organisation, Leisure Boating Melbourne is able to offer you substantially more than just sharing a boat. With multiple boats in multiple locations and full time staff, Leisure Boating offers you a complete boating service including training and ongoing support.
Joining Leisure Boating Melbourne requires you to answer four simple questions:
- Do you want to enjoy hassle free luxury boating for much less than the cost of owning your own boat? Of course you do!
- What size boat would you like to use most of the time? Leisure Boating has already selected a range of luxury boats that are appropriate for the local waterways. In Melbourne there are three sizes – 10 metre, 11 metre and 12 metre. Don’t worry if you can’t choose. We are happy to assist and anyway, once you are a member, you can try any boat.
- How many days on the water do you want each year? Most people can manage between 10 and 28 days on the water each year after allowing for all the other things that occupy their time. If you are not sure, start small – you can always top up during the year are lucky enough to find more time to enjoy boating.
- What payment plan best suits you? Membership fees are normally payable in full on joining however instalment plans are also available. We accept cash, cheques and all major credit cards.
Once you are a member the fun and privileges begin. All memberships include practical training on the class of boat you have chosen. While training has a very serious side, it is also a lot of fun and an opportunity to ask lots of questions and get to know the team at Leisure Boating. Your membership period and usage does not start until your training is complete.
Once your training is complete, you will be able to access the On-Line Booking System so that you can book boats when it is convenient for you. It’s simple to use and lets you book as far as 12 months in advance or as little as 24 hours in advance. For an even shorter lead time on taking your boat out, all you need to do is call us.
The Leisure Boating booking system is fair and flexible allowing you to use your membership in the way that suits you best. Your membership is set up with a quarterly allowance of Usage Points based on the number of days you want to spend on the water. These usage points are “spent” each time you book a boat. The table shows the number of points required for each type of booking on your chosen class of boat. If you use a different size boat, the points are adjusted in proportion to the membership fee for that class of boat.
On the day of your booking, you simply arrive at the marina and take your boat. It will be cleaned, fuelled and ready to go. Leisure Boating staff are there to assist with travel plans, and advice and can even set the boat up specifically for you. When you return, you simply leave the boat at the visitors dock and walk away. It’s what we call our 5 Star – Walk on Walk off service.
We also provide support when you are out on the water so that if anything happens, help is just a phone call away.
Sound too good to be true? It’s not!! Over 100 members in Melbourne and over 1,000 members nationally are already enjoying the Leisure Boating experience and we are constantly expanding both in terms of locations and boats.
