Why it pays to deal with a BIA Member
With boating being one of Australia’s leading leisure activities, the boating industry is both dynamic and diversified. The Boating Industry Association has members from both product and service provider sectors.
Members of the association abide by a detailed and structured Code of Practice. The objective of this Code is to ensure that member’s business practice and dealings with consumers is fair and in accordance with the view of the association that boating should be a safe, pleasant and family pastime.
The Code of Practice is a means of self-regulation and by no means is intended to replace any statutory regulations which exist. Moreover, its existence means that members have been educated in conducting their day-to-day business activities in a manner that minimises any intentional action that may lead to a dispute, either within the industry or with any consumer.
Member companies of the BIA are obliged to honour the BIA’s Code of Ethics. This charter requires members to:
- Act honestly and fairly in all business dealings with the consumer.
- Maintain professional courtesy and integrity at all times
- Ensure all advertising and representations are truthful and accurate
- Must act at all times in an environmentally responsible manner
- Do all possible to promote safe boating, education and practices
- Render accurate truthful and expert advice to the community
- Strive for excellence in quality of service to customer.
- The principle aim of the BIA is to promote recreational boating as a safe, environmentally responsible pastime for families and individuals.
